Conquistas

Conquistas doesn't have an extra translation into English, at least not as far as I am concerned. Translated as conquest, seduction; the verb means to conquer, to win over, to achieve.

But none of these seem right to me.

Speaking of conquistas, my MA exam is in about 6 weeks. Cross your fingers and bury your head in a few dozen more books until the end of April... or so I tell myself.

Speaking of conquistas, yesterday I bought two "new" shirts at a Goodwill store: one that looks slightly lumberjackish, red plaid; the second with tiny colored stitches all over. I also got a "new" jacket that is houndstooth (I think, or something similar), black and white.

Here are the other decisions to be made & future conquistas to be contemplated: Should I go to the Dominican Republic for a month? Should I work at the university and take a French class? Should I stay here in Bloomington and ride my bike, watch free movies in the park, read poetry for fun, sit out on my porch during thunderstorms? Should I take a painting class or just buy paints?
